Many thanks... all the (mostly silent) readers of ToE who came to the Big Shindig.

There was a lot of love in the room last night, and as today's hangover mists slowly evaporate, nothing is clearer than the importance of good old friends, which you all very much are.

If half of you enjoyed it twice as much as I did, then twice as many of you are half as happy as me.

And, thank you.

Myself and the other half had a thoroughly enjoyable time.

Thanks again.

Yes, it was good once again to brush off our dancing shoes, slick back our hair for the Grease singalong and act like we were 25 once again. Which, considering most people in the room were at least, ooh, 29, was a challenge.

Best moment: the inestimable Brit himself insisting that the DJ play a quintessentially English pastoral classic and be quick about it. That song was, of course, Rage Against The Machine's 'Killing in the Name'.

He pretended not to have it, the square.

Big joint birthday bash. Old school, university, work chums and so on, Ali, not a blog thing.
