Frontline services

The other week as I hacked up one of my favourite postprandial lanes I observed a small van nestled into a passing point. In the driver’s seat sat a man with reflective yellow jacket and a moustache and a clipboard. As I walked by him I nodded. He did not nod back but instead made a note on his clipboard.

The following day I walked the lane again, and this sign had appeared.

Yes, I think we can probably find £6 billion of cuts somewhere in this state of ours.

Time for a bit of creative graffiti, I would think.

Good job it's so securely fastened in that cone, eh? Something might happen to it otherwise, know what I mean?

Being an upstanding citizen I have no idea what either of you are implying.

You've clearly not been back this morning. I think that sign was only temporary. They've updated it:

Magnificent Willard! I will treasure that one.

Nope not buying it.

1, That does not look like spring to me. 2, That post looks a bit odd too. 3, and the font on the sign, non standard I think?

I will of course be filling in the necessary paper work to the correct and relevant government quango in reporting this abuse of blogging publishing rights.

Expect to be processed in due course.

Entirely genuine, Sean, I'm not that clever. It was in early April I think. Willard's pic, I'm not so sure...

It's a crisp advert and the cone was made in Bury, in the Duke of Wotsit's old coach works.
