Via the New Psalmanazar I find a devastating apothegm from Peter De Vries. I have never read De Vries before so I immediately sent off for Slouching towards Kalamazoo.
Who of us so complexly entangled in our common human blah blah blah can plumb the innermost recesses of another’s and so forth and so on?
Henceforth will my life be guided by this maxim.

Wonderful. Brit, surely one as clever as you could fashion a contest out of this?
You mean something like, rewrite Kipling's If according to the De Vries philosophy? Hmm...
Kalamazoo is a nice little city in the middle of Michigan, if you didn't know. Or was, until Big Pharma bought out the town's mainstay industry (Upjohn) and moved it to New Jersey. And then pissed away all the assets.
Anyhow, the Kalamazoo city courthouse has a famous sign in its parking lot-- "No Parking; Prosecutors Will Be Violated."
In about 1982 my dad had a computer called a Kalamazoo. Dont know where it came from but the floppy disks were about the size of a vinyl LP
Ah, now, but surely it's about time somebody rewrote Kipling's "If". But I fear that in this slacker age they might entitle it "Why?".
i believe Kalamazoo is also the host of a particularly large conference for Medievalists.
Great Kalamazoo facts, peeps. I assumed vaguely that it was in Africa.
