Beautiful indeed. Though of course one remembers that the rest was sheer misery. My grandfather was in the Somme and said that what kept them together was singing songs from home, slowly and very repeatedly.
This poem makes me wonder if so much poetry seems rubbish because only a few, like Sassoon, are believable.
