Well I reckon Spring has sprung, anyway. The sun is out, the birds are tweeting, a hard-hitting reek from the pig farm fills the village. Two women on horseback clipclopped past me in the lane: absolute archetypes with the waxy waistcoats, blonde ponytails etc.
Bit unfathomable those horsey women, aren’t they? Utterly dedicated to the beasts their whole lives. Horses must be one of the few areas where females venture into the masculine world of obsessive, exclusive hobbying.
Really? No one has ever explained to you about girls and horses?
ReplyDeleteHmmm. How to put this?
It's something like what people say about men and cigars, except that sometimes a horse is just a large, powerful animal girls straddle.
(I hope I've managed to abide by the house rules.)
Yes of course I've heard that and I dismiss it as misogynist, Freudian nonsense.
ReplyDeleteNow, why do women play the cello?
Because a bass is too big to pluck?

ReplyDeleteOops, strange things occurring on the net. What I meant to say was:
ReplyDeleteHappening bloggers have a more simple way of saying that things are perking up now spring is in the air.
Not wishing to scare the horses, but I'm a bit depressed about the state of this country and am beginning to think it might be better elsewhere - somewhere like Asia... though I might be swayed by the Caribbean. Perhaps I need some equine assisted psychotherapy?
Veronica Cooper is the last word on horsey women :-)
ReplyDeleteHow are horse women different than cat ladies, except the former is more obvious?
ReplyDeleteI know a few horse ladies (one who consciously would not take a wallet or checkbook to a horse auction because doing so would end badly) and that certainly wasn't their motivation. As noted, I found them psychologically far more like cat ladies (such as my dear mother).
SH - I suppose they're similar in terms of obsession, but there exists around horses a whole culture, lifestyle, dress sense etc. Bodywarmers and landrovers feature heavily.
ReplyDeletePerhaps worth pointing out that this Husband isn't that of the Susan above, it's just a crazy, crazy coincidence.
ReplyDeleteInteresting way like you redact the information... I've been visiting the blog since the first entry and I think this can be the best edition done. Each publication has been increasing my knowledge, and you must be proud about it, because this blog isn't easy to make it. j2j3
