No wonder the Obstmeister did a runner, sitting there with a forkfull of chips and a worried expression whilst the scary burd from Oxford pontificated, Paw-tee-oh preening away in the background as good old Dickie Taverne did his impressions of a Victorian headmaster.
I actually like Portillo as a telly bod. He's one of the few who doesn't feel the need to constantly emote and appears to think about what he's going to say before he says it. Michael Gove likewise, another Tory.
I hope he likes paella washed down with San Miguel followed by a bit of flamenco dancing.
